Professional Development Workshop Series 2012-2013

The London Centre for Social Studies will be hosting its first Professional Development Workshop of the 2012/13 academic year on Sunday 11th November, 10am.

As usual, Turkish traditional breakfast will be available after 10am.

The aim of these workshops is to provide particpants with skills to succeed in their chosen postgraduate course, offer invaluable hints and tips on how to enter the world of academia as well as to develop their skills in academic writing, research and teaching. These workshops will also offer advice and guidance for successful career management. 

The Big Picture of the Doctoral Journey and Academic Careers will be the theme of this session and covers the following themes;

- A big picture vision of your doctoral journey and academic career
- Dreaming big dreams for your academic career and for your life
- Essential career advice for grad students and PhD candidates
- What are the pathways to success during your doctoral journey?
- How can you survive the Grad School? How can you thrive and excel at the Grad School?
- A strategic perspective for your PhD: Making the most of your journey
- Building an academic career: Building castles in the sky
- Using design thinking for your career
