Dr Aytac Yildiz shared his experience with a group of postgraduate students at the earlier stages of their academic career. He particularly introduced the academic life in Turkish universities.

Biography:

Dr Aytac Yildiz holds an undergraduate degree from the Department of Journalism at Ankara University, where he thereafter completed his master and PhD studies in history. Dr. Yildiz is the author of several articles in Turkish and international journals. His recent book, Üç Dönem Bir Aydın: Burhan Asaf Belge (1899-1967), has been published by Turkey-based Iletisim Publishing House in 2011.  Dr. Yildiz’s research interest covers westernisation, orientalism, modernisation and the history of Turkish Republic. He is an assistant professor in school of Sociology in Yüzüncü Yıl University in Eastern Turkey, and a visiting scholar in School of African and Oriental Studies in London since October 2010.
